Sweet Baby Girl Turns One!

I love birthday parties! I love to take pictures! Therefore.......a match was made in heaven last weekend when I got to do both!

How's this for some yummy cupcake? I'm telling you, they were every bit as good as they were beautiful!

Don't you want to just swipe your finger across the top?

They made a beautiful centerpiece.

The real beauty was baby girl! This child is so happy and well mannered.....I couldn't take a bad picture!

Her momma loves her very, very much. This is one of my favorites.....

I had such a wonderful time... broken hand and all! Thank you for inviting me to the party! :-)

Random Rambles.....

Every now and again I need to clean up my computer. My photos are SO large and take up a lot of space, so I have to "purge" them to CD's. While doing so I come across pictures I had "forgotten" about. These are some of them in no particular order...

My husband got a new truck. Now, to some of you a "new truck" is a 2012 or better. To us a new truck is a 1955 Chevy. I happen to think she is sweet!!!

Then I found these photos of my friend Heather. Most of you know her. She takes AMAZING pictures. Anyway - someone along Ave 12 (a local street that is well traveled) seeded the sides of the road with wild flowers. The Spring drive was beautiful and I thank them (whoever they are) for that little slice of beauty. Anyway - Heather and I went out and took a few pictures. Please check out her web site at

So, these are a few of my "Random" shootings. I have more but don't want to "blog" you down!
{get it...."blog"..."bog"... MAN, I crack myself up!}

(spring pictures shot with Canon 50D and an 85 lens, truck shots with a 50D and 50mm lens)

The Kid

About once a year our daughter comes to visit from Virginia. It's hard when she lives so far away. One of the plus sides of her visiting is I get to practice my camera skills. Since she is very photogenic, it's a pretty easy job. Here are some of the shots we took:

This shot was one of those "accidental" things. I asked her to hold still while I got my settings together on my camera then fired this off. It's one of my faves....

After that it was pure business.

I have to toss in a picture of my lighting assistant. Ian, my grandson, was great at holding my softbox. He was very patient while I learned how to work the OCF (off camera flash).
Then we went back to the house and Aimee, literally, threw her hair into a pony on the top of her head, added a tiny bit of liner and some read lips. I put up a white shower curtain (yep, that's what I said) and my lights. This is what we got!

Once again, I have to give a "shout-out" to my lighting crew...... Ian and Kobe were a great help. Don't you love their smiles?

I had a blast and I learned a LOT! So much so, that I had to practice some more on my grandchild, Hannah, when she came. I'll post that later...

(all pictures shot with Canon 5D Mark II. outdoor shots were with 70-200 lens, small soft box, 430ex flash, pocket wizards, white reflector disc. indoor shots: 85 lens, two constant lights with white umbrellas, same flash equipment and a white shower curtain {told you})

Model Shoot

Once in a while several photographer's get together and learn from each other. It's free, the company is incredibly smart and talented and I learn a LOT! These are some of my photo's from the last "shoot".....

Here is my sweet friend Heather showing me how to use OCF (off camera flash)......

Another friend, David, rigging up his latest light gear. This husband and wife team take INCREDIBLE photos. Check them out at

And then there is this husband and wife who brought their beautiful, red headed child. I love it when the spouse will model for us! Check them out at

I can't wait until we do this again. I'm hoping to have my own OCF gear ready to roll.......
