Some of My Favorite People

Every once in a while you get the chance to just hang out with friends while pretending to "work". This family, whom I've known since momma was in grade school, was just so much fun! We did the normal "posing" stuff, but mostly just wandered around and took pictures. When the "Golden Light" hit (as I knew it would at sunset) I kinda went nuts. Thanks K & T for letting me record your precious family!

Stole this pose from another friend. Copying is the best form a flattery, right?

They're like, the perfect couple!

I tease him about his guitar being a Taylor instead of a Martin. Don't tell him, but Taylor's are excellent guitars. I just prefer my Martin......He really plays well. You should hear him!

M is looking toward the future.....

E wanted to flip her hair. I honestly didn't know this would turn out so well!

See what I mean? I love these guys!!

3 O'Clock Velvet

This group of young men are just astounding! They are young, they are cool, they are talented and they are all Christians! One is our music minister (soon to be moving to Denver, but I'm gonna be like Miss Scarlet and not think about that until tomorrow...), one I've known since he was in grade school and the other two are new friends of mine.

You need to catch them when they play. Check out their website at http://threeoclockvelvet.com/

I had so much fun with these guys taking pictures for their site and multi-media.
Thanks!

My Favorite Ballerina

This wonderful child will go anywhere and is game for almost anything (within reason) that I throw at her.

My Friend the Artist

My little friend Kristan was chosen to paint the mural for our new underpass on G Street. I wanted to go to her studio to see how see how she works.....

Ballerina's and Friends

I love "The Ballerina Project". I love ballet. I love photography and how you can tell a story with pictures. I wanted to do my very own "Ballerina Project" so I enlisted the help of my sweet friend Emily. We will be going places during all seasons and taking some pictures. Please let us know what you think.

These were taken Downtown during the Farmers Market.

Project 365 ~ Time~

The week of July 25th has a photo theme of "Time".

I found this butterfly, dead, next to my car in the Costco parking lot. I've been trying to take a photo of a butterfly for SO long.  Time is not good to butterflies. They live such short lives.

Then I saw this poor lemon hanging from our tree. Time had not been good to it.....

Time...we think we have so much. In reality, we have so little. Make the most of the time He has given you.

Project 365

I seriously have not been very good at keeping up my Project 365. I'm going to do a little "catch-up".

The theme for July 18-24 was Summer. I've recently started walking along Bear Creek at 5:00 in the morning with my dog Kobe. There is so much beauty along that Creek, especially when the sun is coming up. I'm walking along watching the sun come up and almost missed the beauty behind me:

I couldn't believe the colors of the sky. Photos don't do them justice.
Then, thinking of the "theme" I had to take a few photos of the sunflowers along the way.

That's it for summer. Well, not really, as I have more photos of swimming but I'm going to post those later.

{Faces of Hope}

I have several friends who are photographers. They are some awesome ladies with big, big hearts. Like me, they've only been taking pictures on a more serious nature for about a year or so. Unlike me, they are young! LOL

Anyway, when one of them approached me to ask if I would be interested in donating some time to take some pictures of children with cancer I was hesitant. I didn't know if it was something I could do. Anybody that knows my history knows that I have an especially hard time with children who are suffering.

So, I prayed about it. And I prayed some more. It became very, very clear that this was something I had to do. How could I NOT give pictures to families going through such hardship.

Heather Marshal at http://heathermarshallphotography.blogspot.com came up with the idea. Cherie Gilbertson and I were the other two photographers. We didn't have too many families, but we had just enough.

Here are some of my photos along with a little of their stories.

This is Noah's prayer:
"Dear Jesus,Thank you for today... Please help keep our friends & family safe & healthy. Please help keep the Leukemia out of my body and help all the kids at the hospital. In Jesus Name Amen...." Noah says that prayer every single night.
Noah loves his guitar (which I broke during this photo shoot...just the strings and he was very gracious about it....) and he loves his Toby Mac hat.  You can follow Noah's story at:  http://amyandnoah.blogspot.com/

Then you have Gina, Valerie and Matt. Gina's oldest son, Kobe (I love, love, love his name!) has cancer but you'd never know it by his smile. This family has a lot of love going on! Valerie is a 20 something, beautiful young lady. Her BFF is her dog, Grace. The dog just about stole the show! She sure stole my heart! And Matt - he has Lymphoma and is a single dad. I couldn't get over the littlest ones eyes. You know I have a thing for eyes....
From Faces of Hope

And, finally, we have Little Scotty. Scotty is 3 years old. This is what dad wrote:
"Lil' Scotty was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on April 1, 2011. Scotty is stage 4 high risk. He was born on April 16, 2008. Scotty is now 3 years old, and full of JOY! He likes music, sports, playing with Dad on the play ground. Scott has 3 sisters. Dominique, Jocelyn, and Mekala. Scotty has a very strong and great mother. Her name is Ceci.
Thank you for your Prayers
- Scott A. Fauber I"

From Faces of Hope

Every time you see their faces....pray. Pray for Hope. Pray for the Faces, known and unknown. Pray for a Cure.
Little Scotty was so tired after our photo shoot, but he kept smiling. He wanted snacks. He wanted to snuggle with his dad. He wants to grow up.
Pray he does.
Pray they all do.
Pray.

In Him~

Rainy June Wedding for Mr. and Mrs. "D"

It was finally the Big Day and it was raining! Not just any ol' rain, either. It was POURING and the wedding was outside. There were three photographers and we were firing off e-mails right and left: on the Internet looking up how to protect expensive equipment, how to shoot beautiful photo's on a dreary day... But, when it came time to be there, the rain let up to a drizzle for the pre-wedding shots. During the ceremony, under the big tent, it poured. After the ceremony the sun decided to give us a beautiful show! Just goes to show you, God is in control. He knows what He's doing down to the littlest details, like the weather for a wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, a beautiful bride, her handsome groom and a wonderful day.

Getting ready for his bride. A little rain never hurt anybody.....

There had to be a special photo where he doesn't see her but they are together. I love this idea.

KAMB Friend Raiser 2011

KAMB FriendRaiser 2011

I wasn't hired to take photo's but I had a ticket and a great view! So this is my photo journal of the event.
First off we had Richard Andrew. This talented young man is in the LA area and has a deep, raspy voice. He can rock a guitar and was ready to worship. I just wish we could have heard more from him.

Then Francesca Battistelli came out. She has just won the DOVE award for Entertainer of the Year and Song of the Year for Beautiful.

Finally we get to the headliner. Jeremy Camp has a wonderful musical ministry in addition to several worship books. He totally rocked the house and led us into a worship service that was incredible! I wish I had video.....
